      Using newly available materials, this study makes a major contribution to the current historiography of the Chinese Communist movement by using the life of Deng Zhongxia, who has been ignored by historians in the Western academic world, to analyze the Communist leadership from a new perspective. It also provides a comprehensive account of the most important labor movement in modern China and a.
